The PiOT workshop series teaches individuals the basics of using a Raspberry Pi (http://www.raspberrypi.org) by stepping through the creation of practical hardware+software+internet enabled applications. Every workshop participant spends the majority of his/her time working hands-on with hardware/software, building example projects that can be easily repeated at home.
Why is this important? The Internet of Things is predicted by Cisco to blossom into a multi-trillion dollar opportunity (http://www.businessinsider.com/ciscos-john-chambers-has-found-a-new-14-trillion-market-2013-5). Gartner Research believes that 50% of this opportunity will be realized by Makers and young startup companies (http://www.gartner.com/newsroom/id/2869521). Raspberry Pi has quickly become the device of choice for millions of Makers around the world due to its ease-of-use, features, and cost.
The PiOT workshop series was founded in Nashville, TN in March, 2015. Nashville is currently the only location that the PiOT workshops are offered. We plan to expand to other cities in the near future. If you are interested in bringing the PiOT workshop to your city, please contact us (http://www.piot.io/contact/).
